CHAOS MEETS ORDER

Terms & Conditions

These terms set out how we work together when you book professional home organizing services with Chaos Meets Order. By booking a session, you agree to the terms below. They are designed to be clear and fair to both you and us.

Service Provided

Chaos Meets Order provides professional home organizing, decluttering, moving help, ADHD-friendly organizing, and related in-home services as a service-area business across the Greater Toronto Area. The exact scope of each project is agreed with you before work begins. We bring our experience, planning, and hands-on help to create organized, functional spaces, while final decisions about your home and belongings always remain yours. Please note that standard organizing services do not include deep or detailed household cleaning, heavy sanitation, or specialized spatial planning and architectural re-design. If your space requires detailed cleaning or advanced spatial planning, these are separate, specialized services that must be booked independently.

Booking & Deposit

A deposit or payment for the full package is required to secure your booking and reserve your date and time on our calendar. For multi-day projects, a deposit per scheduled day is required unless the full package is paid upfront. All deposits are applied directly toward the total cost of your session. If a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, the deposit is non-refundable unless a valid emergency reason is provided and approved. Your booking is officially confirmed once the deposit or full package payment has been received.

Payment

Services are billed based on our agreed hourly rates or flat-rate package pricing. The applicable rate or package price is confirmed with you at the time of booking. If a session exceeds the originally agreed-upon time or package scope, any additional time worked will be billed at our standard hourly rate. The remaining balance, after the deposit is applied, is due on completion of the session unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. At this time, we accept payment via Cash and Interac e-Transfer only.

• Travel & Parking Expenses: Any paid parking fees, toll charges, or parking penalties/tickets incurred due to inadequate or restricted client-provided parking will be added to the final invoice.

Break

For sessions longer than 4 hours, a 30-minute break is included, no matter which service you've booked. The break happens within your scheduled time and counts as part of the billed session.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

We ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a confirmed session. With this notice, we will do our best to move your booking to a new mutually convenient date, and your deposit can be applied to the rescheduled session. Cancellations or reschedule requests made with less than 48 hours notice may result in the loss of your deposit, as the reserved time can no longer be offered to another client.

Client Responsibilities

To help your session run smoothly, please ensure we have safe, reasonable, and authorized access to the areas being organized at the scheduled time.
• Authorization & Approval: The booking client represents that they have full authorization from all household members or property owners to conduct the session. If a spouse, family member, co-habitant, or landlord requests or forces the session to stop or leave the premises, the session will be paused or terminated immediately. In such cases, the deposit for the session will be forfeited, and any time worked up to the point of cancellation will be billed at our standard hourly rate.

• Item Decisions: You are responsible for final decisions about your belongings, including what to keep, donate, sell, or discard. We will guide and support you, but we will not remove or dispose of any item without your direction.

• Special Requirements: Please let us know in advance of any household hazards, pets, allergies, or special access requirements.

Donations & Disposals

As part of a project, we can assist with sorting and hauling away items for donation or disposal as a courtesy service.

• Included Courtesy Service: We include complimentary removal of up to two (2) standard-sized garbage bags or small donation boxes per session, provided they fit safely within a standard passenger vehicle.

• Excluded Items: Our complimentary removal service strictly excludes furniture (e.g., sofas, tables, mattresses), heavy or oversized items, hazardous/toxic waste (paints, chemicals, flammables, batteries), and post-construction or renovation debris (drywall, wood scraps, tile, fixtures).

• Third-Party Removal: If your project involves items that exceed our courtesy limit or fall into excluded categories, we can help coordinate third-party junk removal or specialized pickup services at the client's expense.

Once items are designated for donation or disposal and leave your home, they generally cannot be retrieved, so please confirm your decisions before items are removed.

Liability

We treat your home and belongings with care and handle them responsibly. To the extent permitted by law, Chaos Meets Order is not liable for pre-existing damage, normal wear, or for damage to items of unusually high value, fragility, or sentimental importance that were not disclosed to us in advance.

• High-Value Items: If you have items of significant monetary, fragile, or sentimental value in the work area, please remove them prior to the session or inform us before we begin so appropriate precautions can be taken.

• Children & Pets: For safety and efficiency, children and pets must be supervised by the client at all times during the organizing session to avoid accidental injury or disruption.

• Placement Approval & System Stability: All placement decisions regarding items, shelving, furniture, or organizing systems are finalized with your consent. Chaos Meets Order is not liable for damage, tipping, or falling items resulting from the structural instability of client-provided shelving, furniture, or walls, or for damage occurring after items have been placed with your knowledge and approval.

Working Condition & Safety

Chaos Meets Order reserves the right to pause or cancel a session immediately if working conditions present health or safety risks, including but not limited to severe pest infestations (e.g., bedbugs, rodents), active mold, biohazards, uncontained animal waste, or dangerous structural conditions.

In the event a session must be paused or cancelled due to hazardous or unsafe working conditions, the deposit for the session will be forfeited, and any time worked up to the point of cancellation will be billed at our standard hourly rate.

Service Scope & Time Estimates Disclaimer

Any project completion estimates provided prior to or during a session are good-faith approximations. Because decluttering speed varies depending on decision-making, volume, and client involvement, project timelines are not guaranteed.

Organizing Products & Purchasing

If organizing supplies, bins, containers, or materials are required for your project, Chaos Meets Order can pre-purchase these items on your behalf for your convenience. All supplies purchased for your project will be added at cost (plus any agreed-upon sourcing fee starting at $50) directly to your final invoice. Clients retain full ownership of all purchased supplies, and digital or physical copies of the original purchase receipts will be provided upon request.

Minor Repairs & Product Assembly

Standard organizing services do not include home repairs, handyman work, structural modifications, or complex furniture assembly. If minor repairs, light assembly, or mounting are requested and agreed upon in advance, they will only be performed with your explicit prior approval. Chaos Meets Order is not a licensed contractor or handyman service; therefore, we do not guarantee or accept liability for the long-term stability, weight capacity, or structural integrity of any repaired, assembled, or mounted items.

Privacy

We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy. Please review that policy to understand what information we collect and how it is used and protected.

Photography

We sometimes take before-and-after photos to show our work. Any photos of your space are taken and used only with your consent. You may decline photography, or ask that images not be shared publicly, at any time before or during your session.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in how we work. The current version published on our website applies to your booking. We encourage you to review this page before each new project.
